SF Classic Vintage Scooter Rally 2013, 20th Anniversary

Sunday morning at Cafe Vega

Here is a very long overdue  follow up to the summer rally in San Francisco. Hosted by the Black Sheep Scooter SC of S.F.

This was my first year joining up with the West coast scooter folk. My girlfriend and I rented a small trailer, loaded up the bike and drove north to the big city.

We basically just showed up and hoped for the best. We ended up getting a bit of a late start on the weekend aaction, but to our pleasant surprise there was lots of long rides left and plenty of people hanging around long after the meet ups has "ended".

me on Sunday at McLaren Park
We showed up late on Saturday afternoon, got our stuff settled in our temporary digs, jumped on the scoot and rode to DNA Lounge, a cool place, that we've frequented before. We had some beer and pizza, and even bumped in to some folks from where were from in Santa Cruz.

Later that evening we met up at a The Orbit Room pub for what we thought was going to be a quick ride to our next destination... but what we got next, was a crazy ass ride up and down hills and what surely was some illegal maneuvering on a few bike over passes, and through a bunch of neighborhoods! It was some fun riding. I'd estimate there was about 50 or so scooters.

We ended up at a bar called Bottom Of the Hill. There we listened to a few live bands, Rile 9 Collective (Oi! From LA) / Sandollar Sound (Reggae from So. Cal).  Both pretty good!

Cafe Vega

The next morning we met up at Cafe Vega, a very cool cafe that served up coffee on the house to all our crew.. They have several lambrettas as part of their decor, and their logo features a girl on a lambretta.. So yeah, good choice for a meet up!

Next up was crazy fucking ride #2... I mean crazy! I think we rode for what seemed like 2 hours of every steep and nutty street in the city. We were 2 up mind you, and we only stalled out 1 time... It was a sure test of driving skills. I seriously cant imagine a new rider keeping up.

We ended at McLaren park, a very nice solitary park for the end of the weekend and a very generously provided for BBQ and lots O Beer! We had more than quite a bit of talking scooters, gawking at paint, rarities, and modifications, and on, on ...we even considered buying this sick Fuji Rabbit!

We capped off the night with some pizza and of course more beer right on the foggy coast at Riptide bar. More good times and conversation!

Cooler helmet required if you ride this :)

So many Lammys...

almost bought it!
